What is a Colour Run?

A Colour Run is essentially a fun run with a colourful twist. As the participants run, skip or jog around the route they will be bombarded with coloured powder. By the time they cross the finish line they will be every colour of the rainbow.

Do I need to be Mo Farah to do this?

Not in the slightest! It is not being run to test speed and performance. We’re all about a colour crazy day out with friends and family. You can run, walk, jog, skip, dance or cartwheel it if you wish!

Is the Colour Run timed?

This is not a timed event at all. You can run around the course as many times as you wish in the time given.

Are there any age limits?

There are no age limits at all. Anyone of any age can run around our course.

I’ve ordered some merchandise. Where can I pick it up?

Those of you who attend Heptonstall School will be able to pick them up on the Friday before the event after school. Merchandise can also be collected on the day.

Do I need to get sponsored?

The registration fee only covers the cost of putting on the event so we would love you to try and raise as much as you can in sponsorship to help us support Heptonstall School.

This sponsorship could make a huge difference to how much Heptonstall School PFA can ultimately pass on to the school. For example, if every child in the school took part and raised just £20 each that would be an additional £1,300 that we could use to support the school.

Can I purchase food and drinks?

Yes of course. There will be plenty of food and and drinks available to purchase such as hot dogs and ice creams. Additionally, we will also be selling a range of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.

Will there be anything else to do on the day?

Absolutely! There will be games, tombolas and stall to explore. Fun for all the family!

What do I wear?

Although the coloured powder will come off we recommend wearing something that you don’t mind getting messy, including your shoes. Excess powder is easy to brush off when it’s dry. If it is raining, the colour will stick more firmly. We recommend wearing a white t shirt so that the powder will show up well.  You can purchase one here.

Is the coloured powder safe?

The powder we use is safe, non toxic, non flammable and biodegradable.

Does the powder stain skin and hair?

The powder should wash off in the shower or bath when you get home. It does tend to stick to lighter hair. If you are worried about it, you can always put lots of conditioner on your hair and leave it in throughout the event. This makes it so much easier to wash out later. If you’re having trouble washing it after the event, bi-carb soda and anti-dandruff shampoo will help get the more stubborn colour out!

What if it gets in my eyes or mouth?

The coloured powder is non-toxic and non-hazardous so will not cause injury to you if it gets in your eyes or you accidently swallow it. However, we are strongly recommending that all participants wear sunglasses or swimming googles which will help to keep the powder out of their eyes. There is a toilet on site if you need to wash your eyes out.

Will running through the coloured powder affect my breathing?

It may do. If you have any respiratory, skin or medical conditions and are in any doubt about taking part, we advise that you consult your GP or medical professional before purchasing a ticket. We cannot accept any responsibility or liability for any injuries or medical situations that arise. First Aid personnel will be on site during the whole event.

How will the coloured powder be thrown?

Around the course there will be a series of colour stations manned by volunteers. But don’t be fooled, they have just one job - to cover you in coloured powder! They will aim at the body not the face, although there will be clouds of powder that will end up your face and in your hair. You can also pre order extra powder here or buy extra when you register or on the day which we ask that you only throw at your own friends and family.

Will the powder stain the inside of my car?

Quite possibly. We recommend that you bring something with you such as a towel or a bin bag to cover the seats before you sit down.

Where can I park?

Free parking is available on Smithwell Lane outside the school. Further parking can be found at the bottom of the village at the Bowling Club car park. Please leave a small donation in their honesty box.

Do you need any volunteers for the day?
